Leaving a gift in your will
By leaving a bequest in your Will to the Baker Institute, you are helping to reduce death and disability from cardiovascular disease, diabetes and related disorders; two prevalent and complex diseases responsible for the leading cause of death in Australia.
Read our 'A gift for life' brochure.
It is often through Wills that people are able to make a substantial gift. Your Will is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the Baker Institute because it is important to you.
John has made a special gift to the Institute, bequesting part of his estate to further vital research into cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
“Thanks to the Baker Institute's research I survived an emergency triple bypass in 1985, and several cardiac arrests a decade later."
— John Eastment
If you, like us, feel passionate about reducing the leading cause of death in Australia now and in the future, then please consider naming the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in your Will.
Types of gifts
By leaving a gift in your Will to the Baker Institute, you are helping control the epidemic of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and dementia — helping save thousands of lives.
Future Giving is a gift or donation left in your Will. It may be:
- A percentage of your estate.
- Assets (e.g. property or shares).
- The residual of your estate — what remains after all other gifts and family interests have been granted.
- A gift of a specific sum of money.
Your Future Giving can be made as a general or unrestricted gift or it can be directed towards a specific area of the Institute's work.
Priorities and requirements can change over time. This means that the most valuable gift to the Institute is the unrestricted gift, as it allows us to direct the funds to the area of greatest need at the time when the gift is received. If you would like your gift to support a particular area of our work, please consider having a confidential discussion with us, to ensure that it is an enduring area of work to which your gift can eventually be applied.
