Dr Debbie Gordon
Dr Debbie Gordon is a South African dual trained Specialist Physician and Endocrinologist. She qualified from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) and has been in Practice for the last 10 years in Johannesburg. She came to Australia in 2020 and has been awarded an FRACP in General Medicine and an FRACP in Endocrinology.
She has a wide range of endocrine and diabetes interests.
She is experienced in rare endocrine disorders such as Pituitary disease, Cushing’s, Acromegaly, M.E.N as well as neuroendocrine tumours, adrenal disease, Phaeochromocytoma-paraganglioma, calcium and bone abnormalities, thyroid, obesity, hermaphrodite and transgender medicine.
On a diabetes front, she is experienced in pump and CGM technology and has a general interest in type1 diabetes with sport and in general type 2 diabetes.
She has been involved in national panel meetings on neuroendocrine tumours, thyroid disease and pituitary disease, and was the convenor of the first national multidisciplinary Pituitary meeting in South Africa. She has sat on various pharmaceutical boards and lectured in various topics in Diabetes management over the years.
She has an interest in clinical research in Diabetes and rare endocrine diseases and continues to teach both at an undergraduate student level and post graduate level in Australia and South Africa.
Debbie takes a holistic approach to her patients, using her general medicine background to support her diagnosis and treatment in endocrinology. She believes the relationship and bonds she forms with her patients and their families is an integral part of helping them manage their conditions.
She is a proud mother of three who somehow manages her family even with her busy professional life.
