To leave a kind gift in your Will, simply follow these easy steps to guide you through the process.

We recommend seeking legal advice when creating or updating your Will. Prepare as many details of your finances as possible before seeing your solicitor. It may also help to sit down with your family beforehand to consider how much you would like to give as a gift. That way you can also ensure you have provided for your loved ones and discussed your wishes.

- A residuary gift is the most effective and popular way to leave a gift in your Will to the Baker Institute. It is the remainder of your estate after you have made provisions for your loved ones. A residuary gift also keeps up with changes in the value of your estate, maintaining its value over time. This means the gift will achieve as much in the future as its value now.
- A percentage of your estate is the nominated portion or fixed percentage of your estate to the Baker Institute. A percentage gift also keeps up with changes in the value of your estate.
- A pecuniary gift is a specific amount of money left for the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.

“I bequeath [ ___ percent of my residual Estate / the sum of $ ______ (choose one alternative)] to the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, 75 Commercial Rd, Melbourne VIC 3004, to be used for the purposes of research at, or connected with, the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and I declare that the receipt of the secretary, trustee or other officer of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute is sufficient release for the executors of the Estate without seeing to the final distribution of the funds.”
Heart and Diabetes Research Endowment Fund
The Heart and Diabetes Research Endowment Fund investment generates a perpetual stream of income to help support research projects, specialised research technologies, recruitment of leading researchers, and organisational priority needs. This election is only available for gifts of $1m or more.
“I bequeath [ ___ percent of my residual Estate / the sum of $ ______ (choose one alternative)] as an endowment to the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, 75 Commercial Rd, Melbourne VIC 3004, to be held upon trust and I direct the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, to make income distributions for the purposes of ongoing research activities at, or connected with, the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and I declare that the receipt of the secretary, trustee or other officer of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute is sufficient release for the executors of the Estate without seeing to the final distribution of the funds.”
Priority needs
This type of bequest means your gift may be used for high priority needs of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, which may include research projects, key recruitment, capital items, or equipment purchases.
