Deepfake videos

The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute is warning people of deepfake videos circulating on Facebook that purport to show its diabetes experts supporting a diabetes supplement.

This advertising is fictitious and is not supported by the Institute’s experts or the Baker Institute.

This misleading material has been reported both to Meta (the owner of Facebook) and the Therapeutics Goods Administration.

This issue was also highlighted on the ABC’s Health Report recently to inform the public and GPs.

The Baker Institute, which is committed to evidence-based research and healthcare, is concerned about this content and its potential to confuse the public and will continue to monitor this closely.
