Imaging Research
Dr Joshua Wong is a cardiologist and PhD research fellow in Cardio-Oncology and Cardiac Imaging at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute through the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Professor Tom Marwick.
Dr Wong graduated from Monash University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He then completed his basic and advanced physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital with specialist training in Cardiology. He was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2023 prior to commencing his PhD studies. His PhD thesis is entitled “Detection and control of heart failure risk in cancer survivors”. Dr Wong is supported by a National Health Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Research Scholarship and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Bright Sparks Scholarship. He is the study coordinator of the REDEEM study — a multi-centre randomised control trial investigating the utility and benefits of a heart failure screening program in adult cancer survivors.
Dr Wong holds an appointment at The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre/Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He is also completing a part-time fellowship in advanced cardiac imaging at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. His specialty areas of interest are cardio-oncology, heart failure and non-invasive imaging.
