I am a Master’s student studying at the University of Melbourne conducting my research through the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, with a focus on understanding how ageing shapes the immune processes that drive cardiovascular disease. My work centres on atherosclerosis, a condition in which fatty plaques build up within arteries and can lead to heart attacks and strokes. As populations age globally, understanding why cardiovascular disease becomes more common and more severe with age is increasingly important. My project aims to contribute to this challenge by investigating how ageing alters immune cell behaviour within the artery wall, with the long-term goal of informing better strategies to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease.

Through my work at the Baker Institute, I am contributing to a broader research effort aimed at understanding the mechanisms linking ageing, immune dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease. What fascinates me most about this field is the intersection between immunology, ageing biology, and chronic disease. Ultimately, I hope my research will help support the development of interventions that promote healthier ageing and reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease worldwide.
