Dr Shaun Khanna is a consultant cardiologist with special interests in cardiovascular imaging, preventive cardiology and the early detection of heart disease. Dr Khanna became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2024.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Khanna is completing a PhD at UNSW Sydney in collaboration with The George Institute for Global Health and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. His research examines how advanced imaging and artificial intelligence can improve cardiovascular risk assessment, with particular interests in epicardial adipose tissue, coronary atherosclerosis and obesity. He has published over 60 peer reviewed publications in leading cardiovascular journals.
Dr Khanna is actively involved in medical education as a member of the CSANZ Education Committee. He serves as Associate Editor for Imaging at Heart, Lung and Circulation, holds editorial board roles with the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology and the Journal of the American Heart Association.
