Safety and efficacy of the Android Artificial Pancreas System (AAPS) with advanced bolus free features in adults with type 1 diabetes with extended use.
This study follows adults with type 1 diabetes using a fully automated insulin delivery system over 12 months to see whether the benefits and safety of the technology continue during long term, everyday use.
CLOSE IT EXTENDED is a 12 month follow up study involving people with type 1 diabetes who previously took part in the CLOSE IT trial. All participants continue using an advanced version of the Android Artificial Pancreas System — a fully automated insulin delivery system that adjusts insulin every few minutes without the need for meal bolusing. This study aims to understand whether the improvements seen in the original trial, such as better glucose control and reduced diabetes burden, are maintained during long term, real world use. It will also look at safety, quality of life, and user experience to help guide future development and clinical use of automated insulin delivery technology.
