Dr Marta Brożyńska

Master of Biotechnology, University of Agriculture in Krakow | PhD, University of Queensland

Marta finished a Master’s degree in Biotechnology in Poland, after which she took up a position as Data Analyst at Era7 Bioinformatics, a research-driven bioinformatics company, in Spain. It is where she was introduced to genomics and computational biology. Marta continued pursuing these fields during her PhD at the University of Queensland, Australia, where she completed a study on the genomics and phylogenetics of Australian crop species using high throughput DNA sequencing methods.

She is currently a Research Officer at the Systems Genomics Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute with a dual role as Bioinformatics Research Fellow and Research Manager. Her main research focus is in investigating the clinical and public health utility of genomic risk scores for cardiometabolic and other diseases (e.g. celiac disease and juvenile idiopathic arthritis).
