Pengkai Shi

BSc(Hons), University of Melbourne

Pengkai Shi completed his Bachelor of Biomedicine with Honours at the University of Melbourne. Currently enrolled as a PhD student in the Molecular Imaging and Theranostics laboratory. Pengkai Shi’s project is focused on exploring mRNA-based therapies to develop more effective treatments for cardiovascular disease conditions. He is now engaged in medical research, guided by Dr Mark Louis P Vidallon and Prof Xiaowei Wang.

Cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of death worldwide, yet effective treatments are still lacking. By improving the way mRNA therapies are delivered and processed by the body, Pengkai Shi’s research bridges advances in mRNA and nanotechnology, with the potential to reshape the future of cardiovascular treatment.
