Dr Helen Kiriazis

Dr Helen Kiriazis is the lead of preclinical echocardiography at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute’s Translational Cardiology Centre. In addition to performing physiology-based preclinical cardiology experiments and analysis, she provides guidance for new and existing studies, training and data validation.
Dr Kiriazis graduated from the Department of Physiology at Monash University. As an early career postdoctoral researcher in Dr Kranias’ laboratory at the University of Cincinnati (OH, USA), she commenced her training in preclinical cardiology phenotyping techniques. This continued after joining the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, with further training from A/Prof Xiao-Jun Du and Dr Donner. Helen Kiriazis has since established and developed field-leading expertise and skills which she has applied to countless cardiovascular projects requiring her academic and technical input in model development and phenotyping. She has made notable technical and academic contributions to over 100 original research articles. Her specialised preclinical skill-set includes: echocardiography, microsurgery, and micromanometry.
