Understanding the relationship between illness severity perception and engagement in cardiac rehabilitation among percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery by-pass graft patients (RISE-CR)

Student researcher: Asmita Dalal

There are a number of barriers to attending a cardiac rehabilitation program after being hospitalised for coronary artery disease. This qualitative study aims to understand if undergoing non-invasive percutaneous coronary intervention or invasive coronary artery by-pass grafting has an impact on a patient’s perceived severity of their illness.

This study will also explore how a patient’s perceived severity influences their decision making to participate in cardiac rehabilitation.
