Last month we welcomed members from our Community Engagement Group to spend the day at the Baker Institute.
We gratefully took the opportunity to connect them with some of our researchers who showcased some of their latest developments.
The day involved presentations from Professor Tom Marwick (Director of the Baker Institute), Associate Professor Melinda Carrington (Head of Preclinical Disease and Prevention), Carolyn Williams (General Manager of Community and Corporate Relations) and Daniel Olasoji (Community Engagement Coordinator).
This was followed by a lab tour with Associate Professor Morag Young from the Cardiovascular Endocrinology lab and an equipment tour with Dr Adam Parslow, who showcased some of the equipment and technology our researchers rely on.
We then had an interactive Q&A session where we were able to discuss issues that really matter to our community members, brainstorm ideas and find ways to embed the research of our Institute into the community efficiently and effectively.
The members of our community engagement group are an asset to the Baker Institute. Hearing their thoughts, ideas and opinions allows our work to be translated in a way that we hope will have a long-term and fruitful impact.
