  • $66,081 (full-time eqivalent salary) + 11.5% superannuation + generous salary packaging options
  • Full- or part-time (0.8–1.0 FTE), 2-year contract with a view to permanency
  • Based in Prahran, Melbourne

The opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic HR Coordinator to join our supportive and friendly HR team.

The HR team is integral to supporting the research agenda that forms the Baker Institute’s mission. We provide customer focused services across the full gamut of the HR spectrum to the Baker Institute and AMREP AS.

The HR Coordinator will work closely alongside and support the Senior HR Business Partner and broader team to provide customer-focused HR services to the Institute. The Institute is made up of a number of leading research, scientific and specialist clinical teams and professional services.  In this role you will have the opportunity to get exposure to and be involved in all aspects of Human Resources including recruitment and onboarding, HR administration such as drafting employment contracts and variation letters, payroll administrative tasks and other HR initiatives and projects.  As the HR Coordinator you will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge with ongoing mentorship and support from experienced HR leaders.

Key duties

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Providing support for the end-to-end recruitment and selection processes with guidance from the Senior HR Business Partner/HR Coordinator.
  • Coordinating HR inductions for all new employees and unpaid appointments.
  • Coordinating administration related to all other aspects of unpaid appointments, including volunteers, placement students, collaborators, visiting scientists and researchers and honorary appointees.
  • Organising incoming postgraduate and work experience students.
  • Completing operational tasks including:
    • writing of employee contracts
    • entering new employee details into databases and processing payroll data
    • preparing agendas for HR team meetings
    • processing paperwork to facilitate the timely payment of invoices and credit card reconciliation
    • assisting with maintenance of the HR intranet site
    • with guidance, undertaking an HR project in conjunction with the Senior HR Partner and General Manager, HR.
  • Providing administrative support for Enterprise Agreement negotiations.

Skills and experience

You will:

  • Be studying towards or have completed a Human Resources or related undergraduate degree.
  • Actively demonstrate a customer-centric approach in everything that you do.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Have a high level of attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
  • Have the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to participate positively in a team environment.
