Indigenous diabetes is associated with very poor outcomes and high complication rates, particularly in remote communities. To date there have been very few studies looking at specific interventions that might improve management in these difficult environments. We have recently completed an Indigenous diabetes studies looking at the potential benefits of a novel model of care in remote communities in the Northern Territory.

Future studies will aim to assess new therapeutic agents and technologies in these settings, and measure changes in diabetes related complications.
