Consultant cardiologist and PhD student

Dr David Chieng is an honorary consultant cardiologist and clinical fellow in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at the Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne, as well as a full time PhD candidate through the University of Melbourne and Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute under the supervision of Prof Peter Kistler, Prof Jon Kalman, A/Prof Geoff Lee and A/Prof Liang-Han Ling.

Dr Chieng's research work is supported by the prestigious combined NHMRC/National Heart Foundation postgraduate research scholarships, and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute Bright Sparks scholarship. His research studies are focused on optimising ablation outcomes in atrial fibrillation. He is the principal investigator of ANZCTR registered randomised clinical studies CAPLA, HiLo-HEAT and RCT STALL HFpEF.
